    Jan I can really understand your enthusiasm for the wild thing! I am really amazed by how simple and beautiful it is at the same time.
    I really love its clear smooth lines!!

    I designed the cowl for the mini wild things. It is similar to the Dirk Jan's canopy:thumbsup:!
    I will use this to make a mold for two carbon fiber cowls. Here are some photos.

    Jan, I usually shop from a local store (see here: https://www.andreou.gr/yfasmata-carbon/carbon-ec3x-208t-gr-m2-carb-208t)
    but just a few days ago I made this purchase see: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...o.order_list.order_list_main.5.2eef18028IGeIw.

    The second choice is much cheaper (~ 28 euros \m2 including shipping costs for a 0.5 X 2 m roll) and carefully shipped by rolled up. The reviews are excellent.

    Alex, the kids have started to complain but the situation is under control until now :D!!

    Finally one of the mini wild things is in the water for the very first time.

    What can I say...I am speechless by its performance; with no fine tuning and a plastic propeller is one of the best performing boats I ve ever tried...



    PS. The good news are that my eldest son is completely in charge for the remaining of the project (fiberglassing, filling with putty, sanding, painting, even making water inlets and outlets) and he also helps his younger brother. I am more like a project manager now and I have more spare time for my own projects :)!!

    The ESC seems perfect for the motor, the size of the prop and the weight of the hull (1,024 grams).

    It was quite cool during the whole run and I liked that a lot.

    Congratulations with this successful maiden! :goal

    I also had a few 500mm < models like an Eco-speed.
    Great fun in smaller ponds like this.

    Again, what a great location!
    As a retired kitesurfer and foiler, I do not like the wind though!
    Actually I hate wind nowadays! :hammer:

    Indeed, it is one of the very few lakes in the prefecture of Attica.
    The bad news is that only a few hundred meters away the forest has been completely burned in the wildfires of 2021.

    I have been to the small island of Zante twice.
    In between my visits (more than a decade) the high mountain forest got burned away as well.
    Looked horrific!
    Luckily nature does heal itself, new trees and plants will grow on the nutritious burned soil.

    However it takes decades before it looks like a forest again.
    High trees are great for keeping wind away from the pond.
