Suspected model aircraft sabotage!
On Saturday afternoon the model club at Notudded in Norway experienced a strange event. Model aircrafts worth thousands of kroner started to behave as if they were out of control. Experienced pilots simply lost control over the aircrafts. All seven aircraft including a Eurofighter worth 4500 euro smashed to the ground after loss of control.
Suspected sabotage
The club and police suspect sabotage behind the events.
- we have had too many strange events to suspect any other reason for our accidents says Ole Heiberg at Kongsberg Modellflyklubb to VG Nett.
He explains they have found radio scanners to find used frequencies and radio transmitters to disrupt the radio signals and thereby rendering the models uncontrollable.
- We have indications that somebody has been in the vicinity with radio transmitters says Heiberg
There were both fast jets and propeller aircraft destroyed - but there was no danger for safety says Heiberg.
At the Notoden police office they confirm having a suspect of the damage, says police officer Olav Stene at Notodden police bureau to VG Nett.
The man arrested refuse to be questioned by the police and a court order has been requested for further investigation.
